Introduction - 

                 The Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most famous festival in India.This festival is celebrated all over the India.Ganesha is the lord of arts so we all worship him with deep devotion.We celebrate this festival for 5 to 11 days, in some places it will be celebrated for 21 days.We follow our traditional culture to celebrate this festival.In this festival we bring an idol of lord Ganesha. We decorate the idol with flowers ,clothes, colours,papers and with different materials.

             



                   Now a days,the nature of celebration of these festivals is changing. Because of this, it's causing for the serious damage to our environment.The several methods which we use for these festival are dangerous to our environment. In this , the different materials like chemical colours,crackers,music systems,animal origin products which are used for decoration and celebration are creating threats to our surroundings and to all living things. 


                 The idols we are using today are made from POP and the colours used to decorate the idols are toxic which contains the harmful substances like mercury and lead.When the immersion of the idols takes place in the water sources. when it dissolve in water it release harmful chemicals in water. This not only harms the water life but also all the human kind and all living things. Because this water is used for our daily use.


               One more fad is spreading widely and rapidly today,is the use of the high frequencies sounds. The sound produced by these systems remains in our atmosphere and this causes to noise pollution and this effects on all living things.In current though we don't knew the adverse effects of this. We must pay for it in future.


                   We use different kinds of crackers to celebrate this festival. The blasting sounds causes for noise pollution and the huge amount of gasses which are released in to atmosphere causes air pollution. These are very harmful to us.These may causes for many hearing and breathing diseases.




Then how to make these festivals 'Eco friendly'?


1.We should aware all the people about the effects of the things which we are using to celebrate the festivals.


2.We should use the eco-friendly idols which are made from natural soils and other natural things. 


3.The next step we have to follow that we should use the traditional music systems instead of high frequencies sound systems.


4.We should minimize the use of crackers.



Conclusion:-


        If we follow the eco friendly methods of celebrating this festivals.Then it will give us lot in future. This will help to sustain our lives for a long time and also will help to our next generation.So come together and celebrate Eco-friendly, happy, healthy Ganesh Chaturthi with nature.
