What are the two types of Homonyms - Homophones,Homographs in Kannada (ಕನ್ನಡ)

 

Homonyms

          The word Homonym comes from the Latin language. The meaning of Homo is Same. 

     

    Nym means name.Which means in total 'Same Name'. So in conclusion we get the meaning of Homonyms as 'Same Names'.

    We use the sounds to proununce the names. So it means that the sounds which used to pronounce the names (words) are same.

          In conclusion, Homonyms are the pairs of words.In which,The words have same pronounciation,spelling or both but different meanings.

1.Homophones

2.Homographs

     The words which have different spellings and meaning. But same pronunciation such words are called Homophones.

 ( Same + writings (Spellings))

           The words which have same spellings and may or may not same pronunciation. But different meanings such words are called Homographs.
